About Me

My full name is Carolina Flyer Brown, named after my mother’s beloved South Carolina and her maiden name, Flyer. Like my mother and about 3 generations before her, I grew up in coastal Carolina, where the marshes meet the sea. Without a doubt, it’s one of the most gorgeous and peaceful places you could spend childhood – I can still smell the salty ocean air and feel the sand jammed up between my bare feet. Only a mile from the beach, we spent every spare moment we had there, flying kites, splashing in the waves, starting bonfires, and trying not to get ourselves in too much trouble.

After high school, I packed up and moved across the country to the other coast for school, and spent 4 sun-soaked years in Malibu getting a degree in advertising. As fun and memorable as my time on the West Coast was, it really wasn’t my scene, especially post-college, but I also felt like I had outgrown my sleepy childhood hometown. Torn between ties to both coasts, I opted to settle in the middle and found myself moving into an apartment in downtown Austin.

I’ve been in this hipster mecca for almost 5 years now, and I absolutely love it! I work full-time for an advertising agency, but this blog is my little pet project to talk about my lifestyle passions which include clean and green food, fitness (slight Pilates and running obsessions), happy hours, traveling near and far, and spending as much time as possible in fresh air.
