Saturdays in Austin

I’ve always been a morning person, which I consider extremely lucky, because I love the energy of the city before it gets congested and hot. As I sat on my patio sipping coffee in the cool air this morning, I could look out over downtown and feel the anticipatory buzz of another day in this bustling city beginning.

My ideal Saturday entails getting in a great workout followed by a trip to the farmer’s market downtown, which is just a few blocks from the house. After finishing my coffee, I weighed my options for a morning workout – usually I love a quiet jog around Town Lake with sunrise views of downtown, but I felt like being around other energetic bodies this morning. So I grabbed a bike at Love Cycling Studio, we if you haven’t been, you’ve got to check it out! This recently opened studio is beautifully modern, with lots of thought put into every detail. They have a gang of incredible instructors who never fail to deliver a peppy playlist and a crushing workout. My only complaint is that they haven’t yet jumped on the ClassPass bandwagon, so going here is a once or twice a month is definitely an indulgence (aka it’s not cheap!).

After my incredible Love workout, I showered at the studio and headed to meet my friend Monica at the SFC Farmer’s Market at Republic Square Park. I love strolling through and selecting fresh produce for the week from their plethora of local vendors. I didn’t need a ton today because I’ve recently gotten hooked on Blue Apron meals and had my weekly box getting delivered, so I just needed a few things for breakfasts and lunches. We picked up cage-free eggs and Swiss chard from Johnson’s backyard garden (my fave) and some scrumptious mushrooms from Kitchen Pride Mushroom Farms to go in my morning scrambles. Monica and I grabbed coffees and one of the cafe tables in the park to sit and people watch other eager shoppers.

When I got home, my Blue Apron box was waiting for me at the front desk. I first stumbled upon Blue Apron through the blueapron.reviews blog which a friend had offhandedly mentioned. This website probably has THE MOST comprehensive review of Blue Apron – covering dozens of meals tested, comparing Blue Apron to other services like Hello Fresh and Plated, and weighing all the pros and cons. I was intrigued but didn’t end up signing up for the service until I was reminded about it after seeing a commercial. This service has been life changing. So often, I get home from work late and don’t have time to go to the grocery store or plan a meal. I love that Blue Apron delivers all the ingredients I need to prep fabulous and healthy meals. My boyfriend often splits the box with me, so we can make 3 dinners for two every week. Tonight he’s coming over to make Mushroom and Poblano Pepper Quesadillas before we go out on Rainey with friends!

Summer is here early, so I’m heading to the pool to get a nice tan before date night! Just another great Saturday in Austin.
